Timing is everything

Have you ever had something happen in your life and then look back to reflect and find yourself saying 'wow, that was great timing'?

Maybe if was something small, like you happened to be in the right place at the right time for a free give away. Or it could have been something big, like you happened to leave a crowd of people right before a riot broke out. It could have been something silly, or really serious.

Or maybe you're on the other side of this equation. Maybe you've had those moments when you wonder how much time it's going to take for something to change? You're ready for something new but God just doesn't seem to be hearing your prayers.

The most wonderful thing about the Word is all the people that God has used to show us that we aren't the only ones.
Elizabeth was married to Zechariah, and her story is found in the first 2 chapters of Luke. Elizabeth and Zechariah were married for a very long time, with no children. Luke 1:6 tells us "Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous in God's eyes, careful to obey all of the Lord's commandments and regulations. They had no children because Elizabeth was unable to conceive, and they were both very old".

Elizabeth was just an ordinary woman, like most of us. All she wanted was to have children and become a mother; she prayed and prayed to God for children, but she still had none.

I think I've lost count the times in my life when I've prayed for God to do something, only for Him to do it months later.
Isaiah 49:8-God also says: "When the time's ripe, I answer you. When victory's due, I help you. I form you and use you" (The Message).

Like most of us, Elizabeth had began to give up on her hopes of a child. Shortly after, God blessed her with a son.
And not just any son.
Shortly after learning of her pregnancy, Mary had been blessed by the Lord as well to have a child. When Mary visited Elizabeth to tell her the great news, "she entered the house and greeted Elizabeth. At the sound of Mary's greeting Elizabeth's child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit" (Luke 1:41).
Elizabeth gave birth to a healthy baby boy whom she named John.

This would be the child that 'will be called the prophet of the Most High, because he will prepare the way for the Lord. He will tell the people how to find salvation through forgivness of their sins'.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven" (NKJV). God has the right timing for everything in our lives, no matter how much we can't stand being in control of it all.
God's will for our lives will be done His way, and in His timing.
It's Gods timing when we get to go back to school, and get married, and have children. It's Gods timing when things will 'turn around'.

We have so much to learn from Elizabeth. At no point in the bible does it say that Elizabeth gave up on her faith, or that she quit praying to God for children.
God hears our prayers, they never go unanswered. It's just not on our timing sometimes.

God doesn't forget those of us who are faith full to Him in the hard times, when we feel as if nothing is going our way. God rejoices when we turn our eyes on Him and give Him our worries and prayers.

Pray to our Almighty God...and be patient :)
